Muslim enslavement of non-muslims
"From the time of the crusades to the early 19th century over 1 million Europeans were captured as slaves by the Muslim nations in Africa. One year after the United States had won its freedom from the British, the first of many US ships was seized by these pirates.
In 1786 Thomas Jefferson and John Adams met with the Libyan Ambassador. When asked why his government was hostile to America, the Libyan Ambassador’s response was it was their "divine right" and I quote “to plunder and enslave”. While other nations chose to cower to the pirates the U.S. did not. Our Navy and Marine Corp were ordered in 1794 to defeat these Muslim extremists, and they did, and continue in that cause even today.
The words “From the shores of Tripoli” in our Marine Hymn came from fighting these pirates. So did the high leather collar of the Marine uniform, that collar was designed to protect the Marine from the Muslim cutlass that was aiming for his neck, which is why we still today call our Marines "Leathernecks".

The Colonial Settlers
"When the colonial settlers arrived in America, the influence of the Bible on their lives came with them. For many their Christian faith was as much as part of who they were as their brave spirit, and it touched everything they did. This stands out boldly as we see a Government based on scripture being affirmed by individual colonies.
For example:
The Rhode Island Charter states: “We submit our person, lives, and estates unto our Lord Jesus Christ, the King of kings and Lord of lords, and to all those perfect and most absolute laws of His, given us in his Holy Word.”
The Pennsylvanian Charter, states that “all persons who profess to believe in Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World, shall be capable to serve this government in any capacity, both legislatively and executively”.
The Bible was used as the rule of life in the colonies. All evidence indicates the profound effect God’s Word had on the early Americans. We can only pray that the foundation on which they built our country will keep us great.

Patrick Henry
"In 1715, Patrick Henry gave the speach that turned the eyes of Virginia towards freedom, demanding "Give me liberty, or give me death". But do you know the rest of the speach, such as where he states that if he did not speak out agains tyranny that his silence would be, and I quote "an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings." He also stated "It is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth and listen to the song of that siren until she transforms us into beasts."
In 2008 Barak Obama offered us the illusions of hope. The voters listened.
I pray that in 2012 the voters open their eyes to the painful truth of what Obama's "Hope" is doing to this nation before we are all transformed into beasts that no longer value the rights given to us by the Majesty of Heaven, who I revere above ALL earthly kings. "

The Four Chaplins
"On February second, 1943, a German torpedo hit the USS Dorchester. Four army chaplins handed out life jackets and encouragement to the men. Their names? Lieutenants George Fox, Alexander Good, John Washington, and Clark Pullen. When they ran out of life jackets they gave theirs to four frightened young men. At which point the four chaplains linked arms, grasped the railing of the ship, sang hymns and shouted out bible verses to encourage the men in the water. Survivors commented that it was the chaplain's voices in the dark that gave them the will to keep going. That night those four chaplains died in that cold water so others may live.
To those that mock the Christian Faith, remember it may be the Christian you mock that will hand you their life jacket when you need it most. You see, Jesus taught us in words and actions that greater love has no one than this: than to lay down one's life for another.

The Pilgrims
Due to religious persecution, a group of Christians embarked on a journey that would allow them to exercise their faith without fear. They sailed the ship called the Mayflower to the new land. All the men aboard the ship, including William Bradford and Miles Standish signed the document that we know as the "Mayflower Compact".
The first six words of the document? "In the name of God, Amen". The purpose of this document was to agree upon a society that would be governed by laws, and in their own words "Having undertaken for the Glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith..." These men were the forefathers of our forefathers! This document signed aboard the Mayflower on November 11, 1620 was the inspiration behind our constitution. If you ever ask yourselves why did those pioneers so long ago perservere in harsh conditions to colonize this country, well, it wasnt for the turkey dinner! Remember, it was for "the Glory of God and the advancement of the Christian Faith"

First message:
God in American History: Why the church should teach American History rather than relying on public schools to do it.
"Over the next several weeks I will be talking to you about American History. Lets face it, the churches can do a more effective job of teaching our children history than the public schools can, because churches can mention God, and include God in their discussions. This is important because references to God are made endlessly throughout American history.
For example:
the Declaration of Independance makes reference to God four times.
The treaty of 1848 ending the war between the United States and Mexico, begins with the words "In the name of Almighty God".
The 1783 treaty of Paris ending our Revolutionary War with England has the words "In the name of the most Holy Trinity"
"God save the United States, and this honorable court" are the words spoken when the Supreme Court Justices enter the courtroom to hear arguements or give decisions.
Dare any public school teacher say "Amen" to that in class? I don't think so! I am Pastor Richard Deitering, bringing you a Moment of Clarity in American History"
